elcome to our annual eventing issue. While we still have wonderful stories on hunter-
jumpers, show jumpers and dressage riders, we feature several eventers in this issue,
and it’s always thrilling—just like the cross-country course at a three-day event.
I’m excited to have Meghan O’Donoghue on the cover. I love her relationship with horses—
she truly has a passion for building a relationship with her horses and said it has always been the
most important—and most rewarding—part of her journey.
While riders of all disciplines are always searching for their “horse of a lifetime,” Meghan has
already had two. I can’t wait for you to read her story, learn about her horses and her family and
see her beautiful photos—including a photo of her fiancé with their mini horse. It will certainly
make you smile.
I’m also happy to catch up with eventer Cornelia Fletcher, who appeared on our cover in
2018. Cornelia is now married to eventer Jacob Fletcher and they have an adorable little girl
named Sparrow. Cornelia continues to find success in the eventing world and was named to the
2025 USEF Eventing Development Program.
Cornelia said she’s now living the life she’s always dreamed about and is happy to be
competing and developing young prospects. Like all eventers, Cornelia loves the thrill of the
cross-country course—and she also loves the thrill of being a mom.
I also enjoyed getting to know California eventer Greylin Booth, who was competing in the
equitation classes when she watched the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and saw the cross-country
horses and riders. Watching the Olympic eventers was all it took for Greylin to switch disciplines.
I love that Greylin gets to experience the close bond between horse and rider that initially
caught her attention as she watched the 2020 Olympics. She has found success and finished the
2024 season as the top-ranked Young Rider at the two-star/Preliminary level nationally on the
U.S. Eventing Association leaderboard.
“I still think it’s incredible how horse and rider can go out cross-country, on varied terrain,
and compete together, making split-second decisions basically as one brain. I’m so happy to be
part of a community that strives for that close bond, based in trust between horses and rider,”
Greylin said.
This issue is filled with inspiring riders and stories, and I hope you can enjoy each and every
story. And like Meghan on our cover, I hope you can enjoy the journey of building a relationship
with your horses—making it one of the most rewarding experiences of your life.

This morning I had the almost-unheard-of—
for me—luxury of sitting quietly in the totally
European dining area of my hotel for breakfast.
Taking advantage of their very good coffee, I
took a little time for recreational reading—thank
you, iPhone—and decided to catch up on the
dressage issue of Sidelines magazine. There, this
one-page piece that is highly recommended
(“Everybody Get Together” by George
Williams). If you have not, everyone who claims
to be a “dressage person” should read—and
heed—this George Williams piece.
—Lisa Gorretta Kinstler
This is so true (“Everybody Get Together” by
George Williams). We are in the sport because
we are devoted to it. The horse shows provide
the inspiration, but there’s so much more. So
important we reach out and work together
to share knowledge and opportunities to
encourage riders to join in.
—Rosalind Kinstler

So excited to have eventer Meghan O’Donoghue,
right, on the cover of the Sidelines Eventing Issue
this year. Don’t miss Meghan’s inspiring story,
and big thanks to photographer Kacy Brown for
the beautiful photos.
Gemma, owned by show secretary Val Beyer,
had a doggone good time reading the February
issue of Sidelines during the Gulf Coast
Magnolia Classic in Gulfport, Mississippi.
Big thanks to these friends from Tennessee
showing off the February issue of Sidelines. From
left to right, Tom and Patty Stutes and Walt and
Sandy Kondratieff.
Pat, left, and Mike Collier enjoyed catching up
on their Sidelines reading while cruising down
the Rhine River in Europe. You never know
where you will see Sidelines!
Sidelines loved featuring Morgan Measey in our
March issue, and we really love her selfie with
her horse Anything But Typical. If you missed
Morgan’s story, head to the Sidelines website
and read it!
Sidelines photographer Kacy Brown, left, with
eventer Cornelia Fletcher. Sidelines is happy to
share Cornelia Fletcher’s story in this issue—and
don’t miss the photo of Cornelia’s adorable baby.
Sidelines Editor-In-Chief Jan Westmark Bauer
with the book “Aachen Equestrian Beauty” by
photographer John Minoprio. Thanks for the
acknowledgment to Sidelines in the book, John,
and for taking photos for Sidelines at Aachen.
Jerry Bauer, the husband of Sidelines Editor-
In-Chief Jan Westmark Bauer, had to travel
across the world to ride the big red horse in
Amsterdam. Many chestnuts are a handful, but
this one proved to be very calm.
