New Year, New Foals–

Same Love of the

Equestrian World

Letterfrom the editor

t’s always fun to ring in the new year with our Breeding and Stallion Issue because I love

both—watching cute foals frolicking in fields and the majesty of a gorgeous stallion. I also

love having Haylie Jayne Rolfe, with her stallion Dulf Van Den Bisschop, on the cover.

What a beautiful photo!

Haylie comes from a prominent equestrian family, the Jayne family of Our Day Farm, in

Elgin, Illinois. Haylie and her siblings, Maggie and Charlie, grew up immersed in the horse

world, and all three became professional equestrians. Now, Maggie and her husband, Nate

Rolfe, are raising the next generation of equestrians.

Haylie’s story of meeting Nate is one of my favorites. While in college, Haylie was the captain

of the University of Georgia Equestrian Team, and Nate was the captain of the track team.

Haylie was an accomplished equestrian when they met; Nate wasn’t a horse person at all. But

he is now! Read Haylie’s story to find out how Nate has become a great equestrian, and the

couple is working together with the rest of the Jayne family.

I’m also excited for you to meet Robin Greenwood, who has a passion for ponies—which is

another thing I love! Robin has been involved with horses and ponies her whole life and has

become one of the top breeders and trainers of pony hunters in the nation. Her list of ponies

and young riders she has trained is long and reads like a who’s who of the pony world.

Robin now lives in Southern Pines, North Carolina, where ponies and riders continue

to bring her a great sense of fulfillment. Robin said she loves watching green ponies learn,

bringing them to horse shows, and watching them succeed.

Speaking of ponies, we have a story on Farnley Farm and their many ponies they have bred

over the past 85 years. I think you’ll enjoy getting to know this talented family and how the farm

was created. Today, many members of the family continue to work out of Farnley Farm, and

they continue to produce talented and cute ponies.

I hope you’re looking forward to 2024. Once again, I will encourage you to find your passion

in the equestrian world. Rescue a horse, take lessons, volunteer at a therapeutic riding center

or step into the show ring if you’ve been out of it for a while. If you already show, invite a non-

horse person to a show and introduce them to the equestrian world!

Happy New Year,
