elcome to the September issue. It’s hard to believe that fall is upon us, and with
any luck we can say goodbye to the hot and steamy summer weather. I know both
horses and riders will enjoy cooler temperatures and beautiful color, especially in
some parts of the country.
I’m so happy to have Avery Glynn on our cover this month, and I love the photo taken by
photographer Lindsey Long—the color in the background is stunning and gives us hope for
fall. Avery is stunning also—and I’m so glad to catch up with her again.
We did a story on Avery when she was younger, but as it always happens, time keeps riding
on. Now in college and part of the NCEA Equestrian Team at Auburn University, Avery is
finding success in the ring and in the classroom.
It was great to catch up with Avery as a college student. I hope you enjoy learning more
about her life as a collegiate rider. I liked that her Auburn coach, Emma Kurtz, talked about
Avery’s riding style, which turns out to be great advice for all riders. Emma said, “I think what
makes Avery stand out in competition is her softness when she’s riding. In my experience,
judges tend to appreciate and reward a soft rider who makes everything look effortless.”
I’m also excited to introduce you to dressage rider Lauren Chumley. If you already know
Lauren, then you’re probably smiling—because she’s a laugh a minute. I love that her successful
dressage life is punctuated with so much fun. Lauren is also an eventer, which she somehow
manages to squeeze into her packed schedule.
While Lauren is accomplished in the ring, including at Dressage at Devon, she’s also
working with young professionals and working students as they look toward their future. She
has created a program where working students can develop their riding skills in a supportive
and fun environment. I’m sure the students learn a lot, and smile and laugh a lot, too!
I’m also happy to introduce you to writer Natalie Keller Reinert—although many of you may
know her and have read her books. Natalie is a successful writer and has published over 30
books, almost all set in the equestrian world.
Natalie has exciting news that will certainly make her fans smile. Her popular books in “The
Eventing Series” have been picked up as a streaming show, with Natalie serving as executive
producer. The series is currently in development for Amazon Prime. Congratulations,
Natalie—we can’t wait to watch your characters come to life on our televisions and devices.
Success in the equestrian world looks different for everyone. Whether you’re winning
ribbons, breeding horses, teaching lessons, trail riding or volunteering at a horse rescue or
therapeutic center, I hope you enjoy every second of it.

I’m incredibly honored to be featured on the
cover of Sidelines magazine! A huge thank you
to the entire Sidelines team for sharing my story
and capturing this special moment so beautifully
(“Genay Vaughn: Believing, Breeding and
Building Her Dreams” by Laura Scaletti). I’m
grateful for the opportunity to represent our
sport and community, and for everyone who has
supported me along the way. This cover isn’t just
mine—it belongs to every person who has cheered
me on, believed in me and helped me grow both
in and out of the arena. Thank you, Sidelines.
—Genay Vaughn
Our wonderfully talented sponsored rider
Genay Vaughn is featured on the cover of this
month’s Sidelines magazine (“Genay Vaughn:
Believing, Breeding and Building Her Dreams”
by Laura Scaletti). Don’t forget to grab a copy
and read Genay’s story!
—Tack Warehouse
Congratulations, Genay (“Genay Vaughn:

—Ricky Reynolds
Impressive as always, Nicole (“Nicole Nair: Young
Eventer, Wise Horsewoman” by Laila Edwards)!
—Pam Stewart
Have you checked out the August issue of
Sidelines magazine?! If you haven’t, make sure you
do! There are some amazing stories and fantastic
features! I was blessed to have the opportunity
to tell my story (“Nicole Nair: Young Eventer,
Wise Horsewoman” by Laila Edwards). It was
such an incredible experience and a huge honor!
Gigantic thank you to Sidelines magazine, Jan
Westmark Bauer and Kacy Brown Photography.
I want to also thank my coach, Madeleine Scott,
because without you I wouldn’t be where I am
today, I wouldn’t have learned so many things
about being a horsewoman, and I wouldn’t have
had the opportunities that I’ve had. I will always
be so grateful for you.
—Nicole Nair
Well-deserved, Nicole (“Nicole Nair: Young Eventer,
Wise Horsewoman” by Laila Edwards)! Congrats!
—Eddie Baggett

We are so honored to be part of Sidelines
magazine’s August issue (“Ken & Jen Krome:
Carrying On a Family Tradition Together” by
Laura Scaletti). The best part of this entire
experience was working with and getting to
know the extraordinary ladies behind this
magazine. Kacy Brown, how you turned two
dirty, sweaty, normal people into what appears
to be gorgeous, civilized individuals, I will never
know. The lovely horses and a supermodel dog
helped but your talent, vision and kindness are
unmatched. Laura Scaletti, you were able to
weave our ramblings and goofy stories into a
true tale we can proudly tell to our families and
friends. And Jan Westmark Bauer, you are the
glue that holds the storybook together. It has
been such a pleasure getting to know all three of
you and I truly hope everyone enjoys our story as
much as we have enjoyed having you all write it.
You all are truly superb.
—Jen Krome, @k2showstables
You deserve the spotlight for all your hard work
(“Ken & Jen Krome: Carrying On a Family
Tradition Together” by Laura Scaletti)!
—Robin Wyman
Amazing and well-deserved (“Ken & Jen

—Melinda Cohen
Thank you, Jan Westmark Bauer and Sidelines
magazine, for letting me be a part of the most
recent feature (“Meg Pellegrini: Chasing Her
Upper-Level Eventing Dreams” by Sarah Welk

photos of Box Como and Cooley Wish Upon
A Star, and the work that Jan, Kacy, Sarah and
the rest of the crew behind Sidelines have done to
help share a bit about my horses and me.
—Meg Pellegrini
Great article and great pictures (“Meg
