How did you first get involved in dressage?
I was born into dressage! I learned my
professionalism and drive from my mother,
Lisa Blackmon, who is my coach/trainer.
My love for the horses came from my father,
Jackie Blackmon, who was a Texas roping
champion.
What’s one thing your horse has taught
you throughout your partnership?
Fifykus, owned by Mrs. Cindy Becker,
teaches me a renewed sense of patience
every-time we ride. I find new ways to
challenge him and learn about how he
responds to instruction. Fifykus is extremely
intelligent and very high power.
Is there anything you and your horse have
been working on that you’re especially
excited to showcase?
We have been working on relaxation and
swing through the body. Fiffy and Jess spend
days off on trail rides around the farm which
stimulates their mental connection and creates
a balance in their riding. I’m excited to show
our fans that this exceptional horse is ready to
work towards the big tour. Fifykus always tells
us that he is ready for more!
What do you like to do
when you’re not riding?
I love to spend time with my family! I have
a 5-year-old son who is very special to me. I
live and work on my farm and when I’m not
training I love to give that time to my son,
husband and my parents. We all share a love of
these magnificent animals and it’s such a joy to
share that as well as live it each day.
