What is your favorite thing about
the horse you’re competing?
Flexi has been my ride or die for the last three
years. From dressage shows, to teaching
beginner lessons, to riding in a police
memorial at the Capitol—there’s nothing she
won’t do! We don’t know her breeding. We
were told a Quarter Horse Cross but that’s a
guess. She’s small, 15.1hh and she’s a red dun.
Nothing that screams dressage star, but she’s
out here competing with the big guys!
What’s one thing your horse has taught
you throughout your partnership?
That even a small, not so flashy horse can be
competitive if they are willing and you train
them correctly.
What does it mean to you to
compete at the US Dressage Finals?
Just to be qualified is amazing. But to be going
on a horse that I trained and love this much
is truly special. To be going this year is more
than I could have dreamed—I’m 5 months
postpartum and didn’t even know if I’d get to
show at all this year, let alone qualify for Finals.
What do you like to do
when you’re not riding?
I had my first child this past May! My son,
Keaton, will be turning 5 months old at the
time of Finals. He is the sweetest baby! My
time when not riding is spent taking care of
him, being with our family and caring for our
12-acre dressage training farm.
